General theme "We have the World before Us"

  1. Theme: "The Beauty of Italy"
A visit to Venice, Florence, or Rome will immediately capture your love for this country. Frescos on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Gondoliers singing along the canals of Venice. This is beauty at its best. Capture this grandeur in an arrangement of red and white carnations interspersed with green foliage. Container and accessories should complement this theme.
  2. Theme: "A Polish Wedding"
A Polish 2 day wedding would not be complete without a taste of pierogies, kielbasa, cabbage and other goodies. To make the wedding complete a round of polka music would top it off. Please prepare an arrangement of all red flowers in a white container to depict the countryÕs colors. Polish accessories are permitted.
  3. Theme: "Holland in the Spring"
Nothing can top a picnic in Holland in the spring amongst the tulips and daffodils and all the windmills in the area. Prepare a picnic setting to include a plate, cup and saucer, a wine goblet all set on a typical table cloth. Adorn the setting with a matching napkin and a small fresh arrangement in red and yellow colored flowers of the designersÕ choice. No candles or silverware (or plastic ware) permitted.
  4. Theme: "The Wonders of Scandinavia"
Finland, Sweden or Norway; take your pick. Each country has its own beauty with short days and long nights. Please prepare an arrangement depicting one of the above countries in an appropriate container to compliment the arrangement. The country must be identified in some manner other than just a name card. Country flags and/or accessories are permitted.
  5. Theme: "The Orient Express"
A trip through the Orient on the Orient Express opens up the beauty of this corner of the world. Geisha girls in kimonos, pagodas and oriental gardens set this area apart from the rest of the world. Convey this feeling in an arrangement with an oriental flair. Container and accessories should compliment the arrangement. Use of fresh and/or dried flowers is acceptable.
  6. Theme: "A Safari Through Africa"
From the moist jungles of Africa emblazoned with reptiles of all sorts, to wild roaming animals, and the sand deserts of Egypt, this dark continent is alive with a beauty of its own. This category calls for a flower arrangement and container of the designersÕ choice. However, this arrangement display must include fresh greens to depict the jungle and sand to depict the desert. Place entire display on a slab of slate.
  7. Theme: "U.S.A. America the Beautiful"
For purple mountains majesty, and from the sea to shining sea, this is our truly magnificent country. The red, white, and blue; forever may it wave. Prepare a majestic arrangement of red and white roses in a vase of blue. Roses to be interspersed with green foliage (the fertile plains), and entire arrangement set amongst a bed of rock (purple mountains) on a flat surface. No other accessories are permitted.
  8. Theme: "The Fertile Lands of South America"
Who hasnÕt had a taste of all the delicious fruits and veggies that enter the U.S.A. from South America during our cold winter months? These are the colors of summer all winter long. For this category prepare an arrangement in straw cornucopia of various fruits and vegetables that come from South America. Several mixed chrysanthemum flowers are to be mixed within this arrangement. No accessories are permitted.
  9. Theme: "Skiing the Alps of Switzerland"
A skiers dream is to ski the slopes of the Swiss Alpine mountains. Who wouldnÕt love that? Please prepare an arrangement of blue and white flowers in a white container to convey the idea of cold and snow. Accessories are permitted.
  10. Theme: "Our Neighbors to the South Š Mexico"
While many Mexican farmers live in small villages next to the fields, Mexico City boasts a population of over 3 million. Mexican children are pictured breaking pi–atas at parties, while Mariachi musicians serenade the holidays with their familiar tunes. Bullfights always draw a crowd. To denote this colorful country, prepare an arrangement using bright solid or mixed colored flowers in a colorful container that compliments the arrangement. Accessories are permitted.
  11. Theme: "The United Kingdom: England, Scotland and Ireland"
Each of these countries have a history all their own, and many of their customs have been handed down through the centuries. England has Big Ben and Piccadilly Square. Scotland has plaids and bagpipes while St. Patrick chased the snakes from Ireland. At the designerÕs discretion, please prepare an arrangement to depict one of these 3 countries. Let your imagination run wild. Accessories are permitted and country must be identified in some manner other than a name card.
  12. Theme: "I Love Paris in the Springtime Š France"
To stroll down the boulevards of Paris in the springtime is every lovers dream. Dine at the sidewalk cafes or shop at their fashionable stores for womenÕs gloves, handbags, and of course, bonnets. Strolling these boulevards is only proper if the Mademoiselle is wearing a bonnet.
