Scarecrow Contest

The Berlin Lions Club has announced that they would like children’s school groups, adult organizations and businesses to make a scarecrow for the Berlin Fair. To enter your scarecrow in the Berlin Fair, please bring them to the Berlin Fair Grounds – Thursday, Sept. 29 from 11:00am – 8:00 pm, to the old Fruits and Vegetable building. The scarecrows will be on display from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 2nd. Judging will take place and prizes awarded (the prizes will be donated to the charity of the winner’s choice). These scarecrows could be later entered in the Berlin Parks and Recreation 12th Annual Scarecrow and Fall Foliage Festival that will take place on Saturday, October 8 until Sunday, October 30th.

All scarecrows must be removed from the Fairgrounds Sunday evening between 6:30 – 7:00 pm. Any scarecrows not removed will be disposed of.

Prizes

  • 1st place – $100.00
  • 2nd place – $50.00
  • 3rd place – $25.00

(to be donated to the charity of the winner’s choice)

Criteria

  • Scarecrows are judged by Lions members on the use of:
    • materials
    • creativity
    • construction
    • theme
  • All Scarecrows must be stuffed in some way, no full bodied mannequins.
  • Scarecrows can be scary but no violent items or themes.
  • Scarecrows must be free standing.

Berlin Parks and Recreation’s 11th Annual Scarecrow Festival

All scarecrows entered into the Berlin Fair Scarecrow Contest are also encouraged to enter into the Berlin Parks and Recreation’s Annual Scarecrow Festival. Scarecrows will take up residency on Farmington Ave from Saturday, October 10th until Friday, October 30th. Entry fee, Prizes awarded.
