Facebook Page LinkThe White-Eyed Lizard Band is a Steel Drum Calypso Reggae Island Style Group. Officially organized in 2003 with founding members Luke Rodney and Kurt Ginter, the band has performed throughout New England.
Luke Rodney the drum set player and lead vocalist is originally from Trinidad, the birth place of the Steel Pan currently residing in Branford. He was part of a Trinidadian Calypso group which performed in front of Ronald Reagan at the Whitehouse in the 80's. In 2015 Luke was selected by the South Central CT American Trinidad/Tobago Society to receive an award for his contributions in sharing Caribbean Culture throughout our region. He is as talented as Buddy Rich along with a dynamic vocal presence. Kurt Ginter is a graduate from Ithaca College in New York and performs on keyboard covering as both a bass player and island keyboardist by splitting the keyboard in two and covers background vocals. Together they perform with many of New England's best Steel Pan performers. Appearing with them at this event is George Schneider of St Thomas and Bridgeport CT.
The group has enjoyed performances at the Big E, The New England Food Truck Festival, The Mohegan Sun Food Truck Festival, Concert in New York City's Highbridge Park for Cinco De Mayo, They are a yearly favorite for The Hartford Children's Hospital Fundraiser with UConn Women's Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma.
